On the special occasion of Mothers Day pay tribute to your mother - the greatest blessing of God on you. She is the focal point of our lives, the greatest human being in the world or should we say divinity on earth.

Today the Sunday, May 13, 2007 is the Mothers Day. It is celebrated in several countries including India,  US, UK, Denmark, Finland, Italy, Turkey, Australia, Mexico, Canada, China,
Japan and Belgium. People take the day as an opportunity to pay tribute to their mothers and thank them for all their love and support. The day has become most popular and and children must pay full respect to their mothers. There is simply no way we can ever really thank mother for all she has done for us.
Mothers Day is the right time to apologies for all the troubles that we gave to our mothers, without even realizing at most times how troublesome we must have been to her. Mothers Day is the perfect day to celebrate the joys of having a mother. Think about her likes and dislikes
about gifts and idea on celebration and act accordingly. In some countries there is a tradition of gifting flowers, cards and others gift to mothers on the Mothers Day.

   History of Mother's Day:

The earliest history of Mothers Day dates back to the ancient Hindu Vedic period where Mata, the Goddess were worshiped in every spiritual celebrations. For thousands of years Hindus have been celebrating a ten-day festival, Durga Puja, honouring the divine mother Durga, in early October. Later it  was an annual spring festival where the Greeks dedicated to maternal goddesses. The Greeks used the occasion to honor Rhea, wife of Cronus and the mother of many deities of Greek mythology. The more recent history of Mothers Day dates back to 1600s in England. Here a Mothering Sunday was celebrated annually on the fourth Sunday of Lent to honor mothers. After a prayer service in church to honor Virgin Mary, children brought gifts and flowers to pay tribute to their own mothers.

Today Mothers Day is celebrated in several countries including US, UK, India, Denmark, Finland, Italy, Turkey, Australia, Mexico, Canada, China, Japan and Belgium.

Mother's Day In India:
For thousands of years Hindus have been celebrating a ten-day festival, Durga Puja, honouring the divine mother Durga, in early October. But now 'Mother's Day' has also come to become a part of our culture. Today in India we also have an opportunity to honour and show our appreciation for our flesh and blood mother. However, in India, Mother's Day is observed mostly in cities, where people are more in contact with cultural traditions of the rest of
the world. We express our love and appreciation for our beloved mother on this Mothers Day. Some of you send her a card or flowers with a poem specially written for her. Some of you visit or call your mother and surprise her by telling her you still remember how she used to care for you.  Some of you surprise her by making breakfast this Sunday. There are several ways to express our love and gratitude for our beloved mother who has stood by us through thick and thin through out our whole life.
