Chhapar or Tal Chapper>
Location
Tal Chappar lies in the Sujangarh Tehsil of Churu District, in the
North-East part of Rajasthan. It is located at 27.82° N 74.4° E[1]. It has an average
elevation of 302 metres (990 feet). It is situated at a distance of 85 KM from Churu , about 132 Km from
Bikaner. and 220 km from Jaipur and lies on Nokha- Sujangarh state Highway. The nearest Railway station is Chapper which lies on
Degana – Churu – Rewari metre gauge line of Northen Western Railways.
Population:
As of 2001 India census India, Chhapar had a population of 17,909.
Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Chhapar has an average literacy rate of 55%, lower than the national average of
59.5%; with male literacy of 65% and female literacy of 46%. 19% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Tal Chhapar Sanctuary in Churu district is famous for black-bucks.
Talchhapar wildlife sanctuary is a unique sanctuary having a good population of Black buck in a small area of 719 ha.
The Rajasthan tourism department has decided to overhaul Taal Chhapar
sanctuary in meeting presided by tourism minister Bina Kak.During the meeting, Kak reviewed the development work of the department
in various parts of the state. The meeting also decided to restore the heritage building at Taal Chhapar. Bina Kak instructed the officials
concerned that a proposal to convert the building into a watch tower must be prepared and presented soon. |
