 Location
  Churu district is located in the North-Eastern Rajasthan. It is bounded by Sri Ganganagar district in the North, by Sikar and Jhunjhunun and Hissar district of Haryana in the East, by Nagaur in the South and in the West by Bikaner. Its distance from major cities are - from Jaipur -189 kms., Delhi -282 kms. and Ahmedabad-814 kms.
Geographical area
 The total geographical area of Churu district is 16,830 square kilometres
 The total forest area in the district is 80.16 sq.Km. Reserved forest area 7.22 sq.km
 No river. Lakes - Chapper lake.

Climate and Rainfall
The district has dry climate with large variation in temperature.
The minimum and maximum temperature varies from 0.5 to 48.2 degree celsius
The normal rainfall is only 32.8 cm.

District administration
  The District Collector and District Magistrate is the head of District administration. The Additional District Magistrate and the Chief Executive Officer, Zila Parishad are the two main helping hands at headquarters.
 Subdivision:   Churu district has been divided into five sub divisions. A Sub Divisional Officer (SDO) work at the sub division to provide support and leadership to the administrative system at local level. The five sub-divisions are :
Churu (चूरू)
Sujangarh (सुजानगढ़)
Ratangarh (रतनगढ़)
Sardarshahar (सरदारशहर)
 Sadulpur (Rajgarh राजगढ़)
Tehsils:  There are six tehsil headquarters in this district. A Tehsildar as the administrative officer of each tehsil, who works in accordance with the land-record system to serve rural farmers and land-holders. The tehsils of the district are : Churu, Sujangarh, Ratangarh, Sardarshahar, Rajgarh (Sadulpur) , Taranagar
A tehsil contains a number of "Patwar-Mandals", each of which has a 'Patwari' .  There are one additional tehsil - Bidasar and two Sub tehsils - Bhanipura and Sidhmukh.

 Blocks (Panchayat Samitis):  Churu district is divided into 6 blocks (Panchayat Samitis) for the purpose of implementing and coordinating various developmental schemes with a Block Development Officer (BDO) to serve as an executive at block level:   Churu,  Sujangarh, Ratangarh, Sardarshahar, Rajgarh, Taranagar
Various development works and projects at the rural level (Gram Panchayat Level) are run through Block offices. One Gram Sevak is appointed at each Gram Panchayat to keep record of the development works and to project required development works. "Gram Sabha" (Village Meetings) are organized on fixed intervals to discuss about development of villages. There are 249 Gram Panchayats in the district. In the Panchayats elction 2010, the Zila Pramukh Kosalya Puniya (wife of past MLA Indra Singh Punia) from Congress was elected from Churu.

Electricity:
Power supply to the district is from Bhakra hydel Complex through 132 KV lines coming via Hissar in Haryana. of the total 979 vilalges in the district, 938 villages have been electrified.
Water:
Water is available at the depth of 30 to 48 metres except in some places viz. Sujangarh and Tanaragarh tehsils.
Road Transport :
The district has good conections within and ouotside the State. National Highway No.11 (Agra-Bikaner) passes through the district. The total length of roads in the district is 3,031 km.
Rail Transport: 
Churu district is served by meter gauge lines of Northern and Western Railways. Total length of rail line is 363 km.

 Sthanan Temple:  There is a famous temple of Sthanan, 3 Km from Ratangarh on Ratangarh-Salasar road.

  Findings of a Union Urban Development Ministry survey on where Indian cities on May , 2010 stand on safe sanitation practices reveal some grim figures.
