Rajput, one of the noblest races of the east to whose courage and endurance there is hardly and parallel in the
history of the world, for centuries withstood his oppressors until at last he
sank exhausted. The 'Johar (collective sacrifice)' of rajput ladies
only memorable in world history. Rajput heroism, fearlessness, perseverance with loyalty, such as no other nation can boast.
Maharana Pratap, the son of Maharana Udai Singh, is the only Rajput ruler who is celebrated throughout the country for his courage and patriotism.
Col. Tod, the famous British antiquarian, bestows title of Leonidas of Rajasthan on Rana
Pratap. According to Tod, "There is not a pass in the
Alpine Aravalli that is not sanctified by some deed of Maharana Pratap – some brilliant victory, or
oftener, more glorious defeat." Pratap was the only Rajput who never surrendered to the Mughal Emperor Akbar.
The moving songs of Mira who had won the hearts of the people are still on their lips and so she lives still.
The Pabuji Phar, the Gogaji bkhtee geet, innumerable great
saints music still floats in the air of dhora ri dharti.
