Preamble: Agriculture remains on the priority list of the State's
development. The Government would continue to provide support and incentives to develop the
sector and related infrastructure.
Core Areas
The State's strategy for achieving equitable development of agriculture and sustainable agricultural growth revolves around the following core areas: Attracting larger public and private investments in the
development of natural resources and building up community infrastructure.
Facilitating private entrepreneurs to set up agro-industries, technology parks, and high-tech demonstration and production farms.
Collaborative area-specific extension support to new firms/units entering into the promotion of agricultural marketing,
agro-industries and value addition. Encouraging the private sector to take over the delivery of goods and services and
production of non-traditional inputs like bio-fertilizers, bio-agents and gypsum.
Encouraging financial institutions to take over the administration of supplies available for on-farm infrastructure development.
Mobilizing large-scale credit flow to operators for development of farm infrastructure;
expanding pledging facilities on farm produce and other crop loans.
Strengthening agricultural extension and delivery system,agriculture information
management, education and coordination system by measures like:
Strict vigil on the quality aspect of inputs.
Collaborative and contractual research on location-specific,
crop-specific technology, indigenous technological knowledge, and
gender-specific technology research. |
